Requirements Interview
The first step is to
interview the client to understand the basic requirements, functionality and
design of the Web site. During the interview LCSS can provide initial cost, time and
resource estimates for the Web site project. The interview process is designed to be a
learning process for both parties -- clients learn about key technical & business
points that impact Web sites; LCCS learns the client's business.Draft Proposal
Once LCSS has gathered enough information, LCSS creates a draft proposal for the client. Typically, the proposal undergoes several revisions. The proposal is critical for the
success of the Web site design, since it defines what needs to be done and how to do it.
In most cases, LCSS provides a simple prototype of the Web site to help the client
visualize the look and feel of the Web site.
Contract
Agreement
Before any actual work on the Web site begins, the
client and LCSS must agree to a contract that defines the roles and responsibilities of
both parties. The contract is a standard ICA (Independent Contractor Agreement). The
contract also includes costs and
delivery timeframes for the project.
Web Site Development
Once LCSS has client material (text and
graphics), the development of the Web pages can begin. This may take several days or
several weeks depending on the complexity. During this period of time, the client can view
the Web pages in progress on LCSS's Web site. This allows you to check for spelling,
appearance or other issues.
Going Online
Once you have reviewed the content and are
comfortable with the Web site, we can move the pages to your host site. If you do not have
a host site, LCSS can work with you to find a host provider. LCSS can also help you
register a domain name if you do not already have a unique Web address.
Launch & Site Promotion
After your Web site is on your host site, LCSS can
work with you to promote your Web site. For example, LCSS
submits your Web site address to all the major search engines as part of
the standard design work.
Maintenance
A Web site is never finished. You may want to
change the content or appearance of your Web site. On request, LCSS will update your site
periodically. Details of any maintenance work is contained in the contract agreement.
