General Information
Q:
I don't know much about building Web sites. What do I need to know?
A:
Most smaller organizations find
out that it can take a great deal of effort to build Web sites by
themselves. What these organizations really want is to
"publish" content on the Internet. LCSS views itself as a
"printing press for the Internet". Let LCSS focus on the
technical details of publishing, while you focus on content and your
core business.

Q:
What
should I put on a Web site?
A: Your Web site
can contain as much information as you want to make available to your customers. For
example, an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section like this can help reduce the number
of information-only telephone calls you receive. You could also use
your Web site to provide documents for download. For example, a museum
Web site might provide downloadable documents that teachers use to
directly address district learning requirements. Your Web site does not have
to contain everything initially -- the best strategy is to grow your Web site -- over
time, you will know what works best.

Q: I've seen a lot of interesting content on the Internet. How do I know what's practical and what's not?
A:
You're right. The Internet
continues to offer rich multimedia and interactive content, such as
streaming audio/video, Flash animations, and Java applets. Many of these
technologies require a great deal of skill. LCSS can work with you to evaluate
the impact of using different technology solutions in a cost-effective
way.

Q:
How
do I get my own domain name?
A:
In order to
get your own domain name, you must register the name with a licensed
registrar, such as Network Solutions or
register.com. The cost is about
$35 a
year. LCSS can work with you to register a domain.
